Common questions

Why pay when TrueCar and AutoTrader are free?

TrueCar and CarGurus are funded by dealers — the listings you see are ranked by who pays them most, not who offers the best deal. VINhound is paid by you, the buyer, so every recommendation is in your interest. Same reason you'd pay a buyer's agent on a house.

What's the difference between the three tiers?

Listing Vetting ($99) — you have a listing in mind; I run the full background, photo forensics, dealer rep check, and tell you if it's worth pursuing. Carfax included. Deal Closing ($599) — you've found the car; I take over the dealer communication and close the deal for you by phone and email. Full Concierge ($1,000) — you've decided to buy a car; I do the entire job, sourcing through signing, with a savings guarantee.

How does the savings guarantee work?

On Full Concierge, if I don't save you more on the deal than the service costs, I refund the difference. You'll never come out behind on the service fee.

Do you get dealer commissions?

No. I take nothing from dealers — no placement fees, no referral kickbacks, no spiffs. My only revenue is the fee you pay. Anything else would compromise the advice.

How do I reach you after I sign up?

When you submit a request, the form sends straight to my inbox. I'll reply by email or text — usually within a few hours, always within one business day. From there it's a real conversation: I'll either start the work or recommend a different tier.
